Professional Belly Dancer

Namira is very passionate about dancing and began her career at age five when her Mother enrolled her in her first Ballet class.  She has made a life long commitment to her study of classical ballet as well as Pointe, character ballet, pas de deux, jazz/hip-hop/lyrical dance, Polynesian (Hawaiian and Tahitian), Flamenco and other Latin dances, African, aerials, and gymnastics.  As an instructor and performer, she believes you should never stop learning and practicing your craft.
 
Namira fell in love with the Middle Eastern style, Raks Shaki (Egyptian) of dance after being asked to perform in an Arabian Nights themed show.  She really enjoys the beauty and athleticism as well as the charm and emotional aspects of the dance.
Namira has been dancing professionally since she was 12 years old. Her first professional dance performance was in a Polynesian revue.  Namira dances and choreographs professionally for film, television, commercials, Broadway musicals, Las Vegas revues, conventions, restaurants, competitions, and private functions.  She is also an Exercise Specialist/instructor/trainer and specializes in dance conditioning and Pilates.

Namira is featured on the "Tito's Show Jan. 2008" DVD, and on the "By dancers for dancers Vol 3” DVD, and has won several awards including 2011 Bellydancer of the Year, Entertainer of the Year 2009, North Valley's Live Music Soloist 2007, featuring Light Rain, "Rising star", "Alternative Music Professional", "Intermediate Soloist", and 1st runner-up "Belly Dancer USA".

In Feb. 2007, Namira traveled to Egypt to attend the 3rd Cairo Seminar "Dance of Egypt" with the legends Mahmoud Reda and Farida Fahmy.  Namira was one of 13 professional dancers and teachers selected to attend the program and receive international recognition and a teaching certificate in Egyptian dance.

Namira is the Director and Choreographer for the award winning troupe, Jaouahir Tahoe, Troupe of the Year 2011, In 2007 the group won "Trio of the Year".  In 2008 they were 1st runner up Troupe Nile at Double Crown, and 1st runner up at North Valley 2006. Jaouahir Tahoe consists of Aminah, Kelly, Namira and Shadha.  They all come from different backgrounds but are united by their shared passion and love of Oriental dance.  The primary objective of Jaouahir Tahoe is to have fun with good friends and encourage others, while promoting a healthy, positive, and athletic outlet.

When not dancing, Namira loves to hike in the beautiful mountains around Lake Tahoe with Maddie, her Boarder Collie.  Snow skiing is another passion of hers and the reason she lives in Lake Tahoe.
